Vendor Terms & Conditions of Entry
Our full terms and conditions are detailed on our Vendor Entry Forms. If you would like us to send you an Entry form please complete the Further Information Request form. We offer very competitive fees for entering goods into the sale the main charges are listed below.
Vendors commission
Our charge for marketing and selling items is 15% plus VAT subject to a minimum handling fee of £2 per lot plus VAT
Not sold fee
A fee for unsold items may be charged at 5% plus VAT of reserve subject to a minimum fee of £2 per lot plus VAT
Electrical test fee
Charges for safety tests carried out by a qualified electrician are £4.50 plus VAT per item
Additional charges are levied for withdrawal of catalogued items, collection, disposal of non saleable items, storage of items that remain uncollected after written requests and house clearance services
There are no additional charges for insurance, photography or advertising
Buyers Terms and Conditions of Sale
BiddingThe highest bidder shall be the purchaser subject to the reservation that the Auctioneer shall have the right of regulating the amounts of the bidding, or rejecting any bid, or determining in his absolute discretion any disputes regarding the bidding or any other matter arising under these conditions and also the bidding for, withdrawing, consolidating, dividing or altering the order of any Lots. At the fall of the hammer each Lot will immediately become the Purchaser's responsibility.
The Auctioneers may, without giving any reasons refuse to accept the bidding of any person or persons.
Clearance & Payment
Every buyer shall pay the Purchase money to the Auctioneer's Cashier on the day of the Sale. No Purchase may be removed until such time as all monies due from the buyers shall have been paid, Buyers not known to the Auctioneers should pay in cash or by Bankers Draft. Cheques can only be accepted from such buyers if supported by an acceptable financial reference previously obtained by them or from their Bank. Payment by Credit Card will incur a 2% levy on the amount payable. Items not collected within 3 days of the sale will incur a storage charge of £3 per lot per day.
Commission on Purchase
In addition to the purchase price of each Lot, the Purchaser will pay the Auctioneer's commission of 12% plus VAT thereon.
Description
Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the description of each Lot, but these whether made orally or written are expressions of opinion and not representations of fact and the Auctioneers disclaim on behalf of the vendors and themselves responsibility for authenticity, age, origin and conditions and for the accuracy of measurements or weights of any Lot or Lots. No compensation shall be paid in respect of any fault, error or mis-description and the purchasers are deemed to have satisfied themselves as to the authenticity, working order and condition of any Lots before bidding.
Commissions
The Auctioneers will accept commissions to bid on behalf of the purchasers provided that the commissions are notified to the Auctioneer in writing, not less than one hour before the sale. The Auctioneers accept no responsibility in connection with the commissioning of their staff to bid for any Lots.
PLEASE NOTE Additional Condition of Sale
Droite de Suite - Artists Resale Rights Payment due on works by living artist with a UK Sterling hammer price equivalent to or more than EURO-1,000 and less than EURO- 50,000. This will fluctuate in line with prevailing exchange rates and it is the responsibility of the buyer to acquaint himself with the precise exchange rate on the day of the sale.
The Royalty charge for qualifying items is 4% of the hammer price and will be added to the buyers invoice. There is no VAT payable on this royalty charge and no additional handling fees will be taken by the auctioneers.
